Rule of Francis 1223
The Rule of the Friars Minor was approved on November 29, 1223. This Gospel Way of Life is the Rule the friars profess and it forms the foundation of their life within the Church.
First Rule of Clare 1253
On August 9, 1253, two days before Clare’s death, Pope Innocent IV confirmed that Clare's rule would serve as the governing rule for Clare's Order of Poor Ladies. She was the first woman to write her own Rule for a religious community.
Admonitions of Francis
The Admonitions are a group of 28 short, deeply spiritual exhortations given by Francis to the brothers, probably during the celebration of General Chapters of the Order.
