Summer "Pop Up" 2026

Br Br David

The CFC does something rather unusual for a dispersed community. We have some gatherings where members stay together for several days to pray, share meals, have fellowship, and usually do a service project together. This year, during the week of August 9-14, several members in the Pennsylvania area (and some who traveled from as far away as Louisiana), got together at the Mount Joy, PA Friary. We were blessed to be together during the Feast Day of one of our Community Patrons, Clare of Assisi. We remembered Clare by having a Eucharist service and a service project serving the poor. Br David hosted the group at the Mount Joy Friary and used space next door at St Luke Episcopal Church in Mount Joy.

During the time together, the assembled worked on a ministry project to prep and serve a meal at First Reformed Church in Lancaster, PA. Around 120 people were served a delicious and nutritious dinner by members of the CFC.

The group also made a road trip to the nearby Amish country and enjoyed a meal at the Shady Maple Smorgasbord. In a world of zoom calls, social media and emails flooding us, it is a wonderful opportunity and such a blessing to get together in person to break bread and share with each other.
